The whole Lee Harden Series has been an amazing journey for me as a writer. Looking back at all the things I’ve learned in the time between Book 1 and now makes it feel
like a decade has passed, but can you believe it’s only been three years?

Writing this final book in the series was bittersweet. I remember when I finished the original The Remaining series, I was so ready to branch out and try something new, which is when I wrote Wolves and A Grower’s War. I was not quite so eager to say goodbye this time.

In writing this finale to the Lee Harden Series, there were several moments that allowed me to look back and see this whole thing as one big story. Since the very beginning, from the moment we entered Lee’s life as he waited in his bunker, it has all been
heading for this point right now.

It’s both magical to see how things work out, and also heartbreaking to see the end of characters you’ve grown to love.

But, all good things must come to an end, and every ending is just a beginning for something new.
